MPU

The project titled “MULTIROLE PORTABLE UAS”, with the acronym MPU, is implemented under the Action “Research-Create-Innovate”, co-financed by the European Union and national resources through the Operational Programme Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK). This project aims at developing and constructing a fully autonomous, lightweight, aerial robotic system. It will essentially be a portable Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), that combines a lightweight, versatile and hybrid takeoff Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and a Portable Ground Station (PGS), in order to carry out a wide range of missions, such as surveillance, aerial mapping, photogrammetry, search and rescue and crop monitoring. It should also be noted that the UAS will have the potential to aid in emergency situations that are directly linked with the society’s needs.

Participants in the Projec:

• Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics & Turbomachinery (LFMT) Department of Mechanical Engineering-Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which also focuses on research in the design of unmanned aerial vehicles.
• Laboratory of Robotics and Automation, Department of Production and Management Engineering-Democritus University of Thrace, which specializes in robotic vision systems and focuses on the automation of production processes, as well as all other areas of human activity.
• GeoSense I.K.E. based in Thessaloniki, which is the most experienced company in the field of geoinformatics and a pioneer in professional UAS systems for civil use in Greece.
• MLS ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΚΗ S.A. Company, based in Thessaloniki, which has been active for the past 30 years in the research, development, and commercialization of innovative high-tech products and applications.
